CRW Nevinson painting sells for £1.55m

The last time A Dawn by CRW Nevinson traded hands in 1964 it sold for £300. Sotheby’s sold it on November 21st for £1.55 million. This is a new record for the artist’s work. The previous record, also set by Sotheby’s, was £473,000 (including premium). 

 

 

The piece, originally painted in 1914, was featured in Nevinson’s landmark 1916 solo show at the Leicester Galleries.
